Investigating the rheology of 2D titanium carbide (MXene) dispersions for colloidal processing: Progress and challenges

نویسندگان

چکیده

Abstract Among 2D materials, MXenes (especially their most studied member, titanium carbide) present a unique opportunity for application via colloidal processing, as they are electrically conductive and chemically active, whilst still being easily dispersed in water. And since the first systematic study of MXene rheology was published 2018 ( Rheological Characteristics Titanium Carbide (MXene) Dispersions: A Guide Processing by Akuzum, et al.), numerous works have presented small amounts rheological data which together contribute to deeper understanding topic. This work reviews on all MXene-containing formulations, including liquid crystals, mixtures non-aqueous colloids, been used processes such stamping, patterning, 3D printing. An empirical model aqueous carbide viscosity has developed, recommendations made help researchers more effectively future analysis. Graphic abstract

Nonlinear rheology of colloidal dispersions.

Colloidal dispersions are commonly encountered in everyday life and represent an important class of complex fluid. Of particular significance for many commercial products and industrial processes is the ability to control and manipulate the macroscopic flow response of a dispersion by tuning the microscopic interactions between the constituents. An important step towards attaining this goal is ...

Experimental rheology of model colloidal dispersions

Experimental rheological aspects of colloidal dispersions are now being investigated with improved skills and with better defined model systems. New methods allow more detailed investigations. The relationship between the rheological macroproperties, microproperties and processes is the focus of the most recent investigations. Better insight has been gained concerning this relationship. type of...

The rheology of colloidal and noncolloidal food dispersions.

Rheological data on a food together with data on its composition and structure or microstructure should lead to understanding the interrelationships between them. A number of foods are dispersions of solids in liquids, liquids in liquids, or gas in liquids. The dispersed particles may be colloidal in nature with dimensions < 10 mum, or larger noncolloidal particles (> 10 mum). For both colloida...

Microstructure and Rheology Relationships for Shear Thickening Colloidal Dispersions

The non-Newtonian shear rheology of colloidal dispersions is the result of the competition and balance between hydrodynamic (dissipative) and thermodynamic (conservative) forces that lead to a nonequilibrium microstructure under flow. We present the first experimental measurements of the shear induced microstructure of a concentrated, near hard-sphere colloidal dispersion through the shear thic...

Scaling laws in the rheology of colloidal dispersions

In this thesis, starting from a schematic mode-coupling model, the dynamics and the ow behavior of colloidal dispersions under stationary shearing close to the glass transition is analyzed. Both analytical and numerical methods are applied. The most important control parameters of the model are the shear rate and the separation parameter measuring the distance from the glass transition point. A...
